NAHC – The Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre

Your ticket to the Wheels for the Wirraway event includes free entry to the

Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre.

Located at the aerodrome, this ‘not-to-be-missed’ tourist attraction is home to a partly restored Avro Anson aeroplane and a fully restored and operating Tiger Moth aeroplane.

You will be amazed at the workmanship, the attention to detail and the remarkable progress that has been made in just eight years, all done by volunteers. These photos show the state of the aircraft when it was ‘discovered’ behind a farm shed just 100 kms from Nhill and the awesome transformation that is currently taking place.

The Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre is a tribute to the 10,000 young men and women who trained at the Nhill aerodrome when it was an RAAF Base during World War 2.

Avro Ansons were the main aircraft used in their training. A growing collection of memorabilia tells the story of these days, along with the history of the aerodrome since the first aeroplane touched down in Nhill in 1919.
